We have an opportunity for an indirect tax manager or assistant manager to join our Deloitte Isle of Man tax team. Although the Isle of Man is not territorially part of the United Kingdom and has its own tax laws, it is treated as part of the United Kingdom for VAT purposes and has the same VAT system. The role therefore offers the opportunity for an indirect tax professional to pursue their career in an offshore environment. The opportunity is for a permanent role in the Isle of Man office, although applicants who would consider a long term secondment of at least 2 years may also apply.
Our work is varied and involves advising on all of the main indirect taxes including VAT, Customs Duties and Insurance Premium Tax. Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with business development initiatives on target accounts, contributing to winning new work
Leading existing client engagements, reporting direct to a senior manager or partner
Inputting into development of new market opportunities both in the Isle of Man and more widely with an opportunity to lead the market development of the new ideas
Contributing to the enhancement of relationships with targets and clients
Identifying cross service line opportunities
Providing support to enhance our indirect tax offering in the Isle of Man
Contributing to existing team spirit and ensuring coming to work is fun
In view of the relatively small size of the Isle of Man team, you may also have the opportunity or be required to help on other areas of tax, such as Isle of Man corporation and income tax.
To be considered, you should possess:
ATT or CTA or equivalent qualification or experience
Prior VAT and customs duty experience gained within professional services, HMRC or the Isle of Man tax authorities.
Excellent client facing, relationship building and business development skills, coupled with commercial awareness
The ability to be proactive, identify opportunity and take early responsibility
