Indirect Tax Advisor / Manager – In house

Our client is an internationally recognised media group with operations in over 200 countries.

They are one of the world’s premier brands in their industry and an exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world-class tax function as an Indirect Tax Advisor or Manager (depending on your level).
The role:
Reporting to the Tax Director and working closely with the EMEA Tax Manager you will ensure the Group’s Tax obligations from Indirect Tax perspective are managed as effectively as possible. More specifically you will be involved in:
• Preparation and submission of UK VAT return(s)
• Preparation and/or review/monitoring of non UK VAT returns submissions for all EMEA regions with full ownership of VAT compliance for Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland
• Preparation of EC Sales Lists and Intrastat returns for both UK and non UK group companies as listed above
• Being responsible for all monthly VAT balance sheet reconciliations
• Acting as a main point of contact for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and general business VAT queries (UK and non-UK)
• Maintaining and improving current VAT processes and VAT efficiencies
• Management of VAT audits where applicable
• Ensure that appropriate tax controls, procedures and reporting functionality is in place to enable the proper flow of data which will minimise tax risks and enable accurate recording and timely completion of all VAT related returns
• Providing guidance notes and training to finance team and the business as and when required
• Assisting in the implementation of a new P2P system
• Direct point of contact with external agents and tax authorities on all VAT and indirect tax related matters
• Ensuring all VAT and indirect tax processes are wholly compliant and documented for SOX purposes
Candidate requirements:
• A relevant professional qualification is preferred but not essential
• Solid experience of VAT in a commercial environment again is preferred but candidates coming from the profession will also be considered
• You must be a good team player whilst being able to fit in well in a creative and innovative environment
The Package
£50,000 - £70,000 depending on experience, with a discretionary bonus, healthcare and pension and other benefits
