Challenging high profile role in a major financial services group. This is a mixed advisory and compliance management role, providing key planning services to the the Group?s bancassurance businesses and managing a team dealing with the compliance process.
The role requires an ACA/CTA or equivalent with at least three years posy qualified tax experience, ideally though not essentially including exposure to F'S sector clients either as either directly as part of an in-house tax team as part of an FS team within a Big 4 practice . The role requires:
? In depth understanding of UK taxation, including a detailed knowledge of the tax regime pertaining to financial services companies, coupled with commercial awareness and knowledge of the workings of HMRC.
? Good understanding and direct relevant experience of preparing tax numbers for financial reporting under IFRS.
? Proven problem solving and strong analytical and interpretative skills along with strong project management exposure.
Key responsibilities include:
Responsibility for planning and controlling the submission of tax computations.
Manage the involvement of key information providers for the computations to ensure that requirements are understood and met.
Plan, control and co-ordinate responses to HMRC queries and, together with the Head of Tax, manage negotiations and the day to day relationship with the Inspector of Taxes.P
Propose and develop ideas to minimise tax and to improve tax efficiency.
Provide direct and integrated tax assistance and advice to the finance and marketing teams responsible for the business units.
Responsibility for planning and controlling the provision of tax numbers for financial reporting purposes.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and interpretation to identify potential impact and take action to ensure that the Group complies and takes advantage of such changes.
